Meghan Markle’s team has dismissed recent claims that she kept a $1,695 designer gown from a 2022 photoshoot, calling the allegations “categorically false and highly defamatory”.

The controversy began after a trailer for her upcoming Netflix holiday special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, featured Markle wearing a striking green, one-shoulder gown. The dress, a Galvan “Ushuaia” design, had previously appeared in a 2022 cover shoot, prompting questions about its whereabouts.

A source behind the original report suggested the dress had been kept for Markle’s personal archive. However, a spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex responded by stating that any wardrobe items retained after shoots are always handled transparently and in accordance with contractual agreements.

At present, no photographer, stylist or agency involved in the original shoot has publicly confirmed that the gown was taken without permission. As such, the only official comment on the matter remains Markle’s clear denial.

The moment has reignited conversation around fashion-shoot etiquette and the handling of high-value garments used by public figures in media projects.
