AHMEDABAD: AHMEDABAD: The clash between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings took a completely one-sided turn as Shubman Gill’s men crushed CSK by 89 runs after a dominant batting display in Ahmedabad.

Earlier in the game, Chennai Super Kings were left reeling in their chase after losing five key wickets, slipping to 70 while desperately trying to keep pace with Gujarat’s massive target.

Gujarat Titans posted a commanding 229-4 in their 20 overs, built on a destructive top-order performance that kept the pressure firmly on the visitors from the outset.

Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a brilliant 84 off 53 balls, smashing seven fours and four sixes, while skipper Shubman Gill continued his superb form with a rapid 64 from 37 deliveries. The duo laid the perfect foundation for a huge total with aggressive stroke play throughout the powerplay and middle overs.

Jos Buttler then provided the finishing fireworks with a blistering unbeaten 57 off just 27 balls, hammering five boundaries and four sixes to push Gujarat well beyond the 220-run mark.

The Titans maintained relentless momentum during the innings, leaving CSK bowlers with little room to recover. Rahul Tewatia and Washington Sundar also chipped in during the closing stages as Gujarat finished with one of their most imposing totals of the season.

In response, Chennai’s chase never truly gained momentum as early wickets exposed the middle order under mounting scoreboard pressure. Experienced names including Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube were expected to rebuild the innings, but Gujarat’s bowling attack kept tightening its grip on the contest.

Although the surface continued to favour stroke play, CSK failed to produce the big partnership needed to challenge the steep target and were eventually bowled out for 140 in 13.4 overs.

The emphatic win further strengthened Gujarat Titans’ campaign while highlighting Chennai Super Kings’ continuing struggles against aggressive batting sides this season.
