4G rollout brings digital boost to remote valley in Gilgit-Baltistan

A major step towards digital connectivity has been achieved in Gilgit-Baltistan, with the introduction of 4G services in the remote Soq Valley, marking a significant upgrade in the region’s telecommunications infrastructure.
The Special Communications Organization (SCO) has upgraded its telecom services in the valley from 2G to 4G, providing faster and more reliable connectivity to residents. The development has been completed under the NGMS Phase-IV project, aimed at expanding next-generation mobile services in underserved areas.
Local residents have welcomed the move, saying the availability of 4G services has made everyday life easier, improved access to education and opened new avenues for development in the region.
They added that the upgrade is not only beneficial for the local population but also a positive development for tourists visiting the scenic valley.
Residents also praised the quality of SCO’s 4G services, describing them as efficient and reliable, and a much-needed advancement for the area’s digital transformation.
