5.7 magnitude earthquake jolts Islamabad, northern Pakistan

An earthquake measuring 5.7 magnitude struck on April 27, 2026, at 11:46 AM PST, with its epicenter located in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The quake occurred at a depth of 170 kilometres, with coordinates recorded at 37.32°N latitude and 71.30°E longitude.

Tremors from the earthquake were felt across several parts of northern Pakistan, including Islamabad, Swat, Shangla, and Buner. Residents in Abbottabad, Bajaur, Lower Dir, and surrounding areas also reported shaking.
