All educational establishments, including government-run and privately-owned schools, colleges, and universities within the Islamabad Capital Territory, will be closed on March 13. This directive was issued through an official order from the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The announcement was made public via a social media post by Islamabad’s Deputy Commissioner, Irfan Nawaz Memon. The official notification stated that Friday, March 13, 2026, is designated as a day off for every type of academic institution operating within the territorial jurisdiction of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

The communicated order did not provide any explicit explanation for the closure.
Concurrent holiday announced by Sindh Government
In a parallel development, the provincial government of Sindh has declared a holiday throughout the province for the same day.
An official circular from the services department mandates that all provincial government departments, along with affiliated autonomous, semi-autonomous, corporate bodies, and local councils, will be non-operational on March 13, with the exception of those providing critical services.
This decision comes after an earlier statement by Sindh’s Local Government Minister, Nasir Hussain Shah, confirming a public holiday would be declared to commemorate Jumma-tul-Wida.
Jumma-tul-Wida marks the final Friday observed during the holy month of Ramadan. If the lunar month consists of 29 days, then March 13 will correspond to this significant occasion.
