Balochistan abolishes Kalat Division, creates Khuzdar and Lasbela divisions

QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has announced a major administrative restructuring by abolishing the former Kalat Division and replacing it with two new divisions, Khuzdar and Lasbela, while also creating the new Wadh district.
According to an official notification, Lasbela Division will have its headquarters in Uthal, while Khuzdar Division will comprise the districts of Khuzdar, Surab, Kalat and the newly established Wadh district.
The notification states that Wadh district has been carved out of Khuzdar district, with Nal designated as its headquarters. The new district will include the areas of Wadh, Nal and Ornach.
As part of the reorganisation, the former Shaheed Sikandarabad district has been renamed Surab district. In addition, Zehri tehsil has been separated from Khuzdar and merged into Surab district.
The government has also expanded the administrative boundaries of Khuzdar district by including the areas of Zaidi, Baghbana, Moola and Karkh. Karkh has been upgraded from a sub-tehsil to a full tehsil.
Meanwhile, Kalat district will retain its existing administrative boundaries, including the areas of Kalat, Khaliqabad, Mangochar, Johan and Gazg, along with other localities.
With the issuance of the notification, the administrative status of the former Kalat Division has been formally abolished, completing the province’s latest administrative reorganisation.
