LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is intensifying its efforts to enhance the city’s road infrastructure with the swift progression of the Controlled Access Corridor Closed Road project on Bund Road.
Asrar Saeed, Chief Engineer of LDA, revealed that the project had been strategically divided into two packages, with completion rates of 61 per cent for package I and 42 per cent for package II. Notably, significant strides have been made in the construction process.
In the latest update, Saeed highlighted the rapid advancement of asphalt work in ‘package I,’ accompanied by the installation of barriers on ramps.
A noteworthy achievement is the installation of 6,000 panels in Package I, with all girders successfully launched.
Meanwhile, in package II, 4,100 panels have been installed, and an additional 6,469 panels are ready for deployment. The preparation of girders is complete, and the launching process is currently underway.
Underscoring the dedication to the project, Asrar emphasised that the installation of wall panels for both packages is a round-the-clock operation.
Simultaneously, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) is making significant progress in dismantling the canal associated with the project.
A recent visit to the construction site by Housing Minister Syed Azfar Ali Nasir, accompanied by Commissioner and DG LDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, underscored the government’s commitment to timely project completion.
During the visit, Minister Nasir urged contractors for both packages to expedite their efforts, emphasising the importance of meeting project deadlines.
The acceleration of the Bund Road project aligns with LDA’s commitment to enhancing the city’s infrastructure and ensuring a well-connected road network for the residents of Lahore.
