LAHORE: In a first for the province, Punjab has launched a dedicated digital portal enabling citizens – focusing on youth particularly – to directly communicate with the Chief Minister, marking a significant step toward participatory governance.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formally inaugurated the initiative, titled “Talk to CM,” at a ceremony in Lahore. The platform is designed to gather public opinions, policy suggestions, and feedback on government programs, with a special focus on engaging the province’s youth.

Addressing the media during a briefing, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb described the portal as a “historic milestone” in Punjab’s administrative landscape. She said a dedicated interface has been created specifically for young people aged 20 years and above, allowing them to share their ideas and perspectives directly with the Chief Minister’s Office.

“This portal opens a new channel of direct communication between the youth and the government,” Aurangzeb said. “Young citizens from across the province can provide suggestions regarding the Chief Minister’s initiatives, development projects, and policy priorities.”

The launch comes as Maryam Nawaz has declared 2026 as the “Year of Youth,” accentuating the government’s intention to place young people at the center of policymaking and development planning. Officials said the “Talk to CM” portal is the first initiative under this broader vision and represents the first platform of its kind in Punjab’s history.

Through the portal, users will be able not only to submit feedback but also to present innovative ideas along with their names and brief personal details. The government believes this transparent and structured engagement will help policymakers better understand public sentiment and harness fresh ideas from the province’s growing youth population.

Officials expressed hope that the initiative will strengthen trust between citizens and the government while promoting inclusive governance in Punjab.
