ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was told on Wednesday that the newly established Danish University in Islamabad will officially begin classes in 2027, where high-quality education will be provided to students from underprivileged regions.
Chairing a review meeting, PM Sharif characterised the government-funded Danish schools and university network as a vital national asset and a critical investment in the country’s youth.
“The construction of Danish schools across the country and the Danish University in Islamabad represents the best investment for our nation’s bright future,” Sharif said.
The prime minister directed the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to establish a dedicated technology campus of the university in Muzaffarabad.
He also ordered the accelerated completion of 27 Danish schools currently under construction across all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Educational authorities briefed the prime minister that construction of the Danish school in the Kuri area of Islamabad has already been completed, with regular classes now under way.
The meeting was told that construction is nearing completion on campuses in Bagh, Bhimber, Sultanabad, Ghanche, and Astore, with academic sessions scheduled to begin in April 2027.
Officials said that the recruitment process for faculty members at the flagship Danish University in Islamabad has already commenced ahead of its 2027 launch, adding that admissions will be granted strictly on a merit basis, with a particular focus on marginalised communities.
Sharif stressed that all teaching and administrative staff across the entire institutional network must be recruited purely on merit to ensure high educational standards.
He also instructed the authorities to ensure that the physical design of all school buildings harmonizes with local regional cultures.
The meeting was attended by cabinet members including Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and top officials.
