ISLAMABAD: Security forces shot down four drones allegedly sent from Afghan territory into Balochistan, accusing the Afghan Taliban administration of continuing to support militant activity.

In a statement, the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the drones crossed the border on June 30 and were successfully intercepted and destroyed by Pakistani security forces.

The ISPR described the alleged drone incursion as a continuation of what it called the Afghan Taliban government’s support for terrorists operating from Afghan soil. It urged the Afghan authorities to end such support and prevent their territory from being used against Pakistan.

The military warned that Pakistan would respond to any violation of its sovereignty and said the country’s armed forces remained fully prepared to defend its borders.

“Every action that threatens Pakistan’s security will be thwarted,” the ISPR statement said, adding that the Afghan Taliban administration would receive an appropriate response to any hostile actions.

The statement further alleged that such actions were intended to mislead the public and asserted that any future “misadventure” would be met with a “befitting response” under Operation Ghazib-lil-Haq.
