Four killed, 20 injured as wedding party tractor trolley collides with trailer

RAHIM YAR KHAN: At least four people were killed and 20 others injured when a tractor trolley carrying a wedding party collided with a trailer on the national highway in Rahim Yar Khan, police said.

The accident occurred on the Rukanpur section of the national highway, where the tractor trolley carrying the wedding party crashed into a trailer, according to Rahim Yar Khan District Police Officer Irfan Ali Samoo.

Several people sustained serious injuries in the collision, with women and children among those hurt.

Police and rescue teams reached the scene and launched relief and rescue operations. The bodies and the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for medico-legal formalities and treatment.

Police said the preliminary investigation suggested that the accident may have been caused by the tractor driver’s negligence and carelessness. However, further investigation was under way to determine the exact circumstances and cause of the crash.

Rahim Yar Khan Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the accident and extended condolences to the families of the victims.

He directed hospital authorities to remain on alert and ensure the provision of the best possible medical treatment to the injured.

The deputy commissioner also instructed the relevant departments to speed up rescue and relief activities and ensure that all injured people received immediate medical attention.
