Four terrorists killed in Panjgur operation

QUETTA: Security forces killed four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Panjgur district of Balochistan, security sources said on Monday.

The operation was carried out in the Aphan Koh and Paroom areas after intelligence reports indicated the presence of terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna al Hindustan, Radio Pakistan reported quoting sources.

A heavy exchange of fire took place between security forces and the terrorists during the operation, resulting in the deaths of four terrorists, they added.

A large quantity of modern weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the militants, according to the sources.

Security operations against militants in Balochistan would continue, the sources said, until the last militant was eliminated.

Balochistan government’s Special Assistant for Home Affairs Babar Yousafzai said that security forces conducted the operation in Panjgur under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna, killing four militants.

He said that operations against terrorists would continue to ensure peace and stability in the province.

On Sunday, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said security forces had killed eight militants in an operation against militants in Hangu, while six soldiers, including two officers, were martyred in an intense exchange of fire.

ISPR identified the two officers as 23-year-old Captain Abuzar Farooq, from Gujranwala district, and 22-year-old Lieutenant Shiraz Babar, from Chakwal district. It said both officers fought bravely while leading their troops.

ISPR said that security forces and law-enforcement agencies would continue operations against terrorism under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam campaign.

The military’s media wing said that security forces remained committed to eliminating terrorism backed and supported by foreign elements.
