‘I’ll quit politics if PML-N rally is bigger’: Sohail Afridi challenges PML-N

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has challenged the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to hold a rally in Punjab, saying he is ready to quit politics if the PML-N draws a larger crowd than Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In a statement posted on X, chief minister Afridi said the PML-N could choose any city in Punjab, while PTI could select a city of its own choice.

He said the PML-N could also decide the “day, date and time”, provided both parties were given a “complete and equal level playing field.”

“If the PML-N’s rally proves larger than PTI’s in terms of public participation, I am ready to quit politics,” Afridi said.

He added that if PTI’s rally turned out to be larger, the PML-N would have to answer questions about its public mandate, treatment of political workers and governance.

Afridi said the public response should determine which party has greater support, rather than claims, official statistics or media statements.

“Let the decision be made not by claims, official statistics, or media statements, but by the presence of the people and their public response,” he said.

The KP chief minister also referred to the February 8 elections, claiming that the people of Punjab had given PTI a two-thirds majority.
