ISLAMABAD: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Pakistan on Sunday, prompting speculation about whether Islamabad talks could resume, according to Reuters.
However, officials have clarified that no such negotiations have been confirmed, and no official statement has been issued by Pakistan regarding any new round of talks.
Sources familiar with the matter said Araghchi was received at Nur Khan Airbase by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi upon his arrival in Islamabad.
Earlier, an Iran-led delegation had visited Pakistan amid ongoing US–Iran diplomatic activity in the region. During that visit, the delegation was welcomed by senior Pakistani officials, including Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The visit was part of a broader regional diplomatic tour that also included Oman and Russia, aimed at consultations on bilateral ties and regional developments.
After a brief stay, Araghchi departed Pakistan as part of his scheduled multi-country engagement, with officials emphasizing that the visit should not be interpreted as confirmation of any immediate negotiation process in Islamabad.
