Islamabad ‘kidnapping’ drama exposed as fraud suspect stages own abduction

ISLAMABAD: The alleged kidnapping of an Islamabad resident turned out to be a staged drama, police revealed after arresting the main suspect along with his two accomplices from Rahim Yar Khan.

According to investigators, Nooruddin, who had been allegedly kidnapped, and his friends created fake kidnapping videos and circulated them on social media to make the incident appear genuine.

Police said the suspect had allegedly collected large sums of money from multiple people through fraud and staged his own abduction to avoid repayment and implicate his rivals in criminal cases.

The case was initially registered at Aabpara Police Station on May 1 after Nooruddin’s brother, Saifuddin, reported that he had been kidnapped from Islamabad.

SP City Ayaz and his team traced the suspects using modern technology and human intelligence before carrying out the arrests.
