Islamabad, Rawalpindi public transport suspended until further notice

Authorities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have suspended all public, private, and goods transport until further notice, in a move tied to heightened security arrangements in the twin cities.

According to district administration announcements, heavy and public transport services in Islamabad have been halted, while Rawalpindi has also imposed a complete suspension of all types of transport with immediate effect.

Citizens have been urged to fully cooperate with security agencies, and officials said further updates will be shared as the situation develops.

Metro bus service operating in Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been partially closed, from PIMS station to Pak Secretariat, officials said. Metro bus service is operational from Saddar station to Kachhari.

Public transportation, including Metro bus service will remain closed until further orders.

The measures come amid increased security preparations in the federal capital, where a possible second round of high-level US-Iran talks is being speculated.

While no official confirmation of the next negotiation round has been given, authorities appear to be tightening movement and access across key routes as part of precautionary arrangements.

Officials have not linked the restrictions to any specific event, but the timing has raised expectations that Islamabad may again host sensitive diplomatic discussions, prompting enhanced security and transport control across the region.
