Islamabad to get another cinema

cineplex islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) has approved in principle the proposal of establishing a cinema on its premises.

The decision was taken in a meeting of its board of governors chaired by Jamal Shah, the interim federal culture minister. It also approved in principle a proposal to establish a channel dedicated to document and broadcast Pakistan’s cultural heritage, historical landmarks, traditional practices, and artistic achievements.

The meeting also lauded the management for the ongoing Lok Mela, a ten-day festival ‘to promote national harmony and integration among all federating units through projection of their indigenous culture and folk heritage’.

Here’s the complete Lok Virsa Mela Islamabad 2023 schedule

Currently Islamabad’s cinemas include Cinepax at Jinnah Park, Centaurus Mall cinema, and Arena Cinemas.  Islamabad Club cinema also exists but it can be visited by its members and their guests only.

Another cineplex at Lok Virsa will be welcoming for the residents of the twin cities, providing more options for family movie outings as physical alternatives to streaming platforms like Netflix that provides different packages to couch potatoes. Many also resort to watching movies on illegal platforms bollyflix that provides free streaming of popular movies.

But one thing is clear, the next you’re your favourite Marvel movie is out, or a new local blockbuster hits the screen, you might have more options in the city for cinemas.
