Jumma-tul-Wida and Al-Quds rally: ITP issue major road closures

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Friday issued a comprehensive traffic advisory announcing multiple road closures across the city, particularly around the high-security Red Zone, urging commuters to plan their routes carefully and avoid unnecessary travel.

According to the advisory, only Margalla Road will remain open for access to the Red Zone, while all other internal roads in the area will remain closed for security reasons.

Authorities also announced that all roads leading to and from Iran Avenue will be completely closed for traffic.

Several major routes across the capital will face temporary closures, including the Chand Tara Flyover on Srinagar Highway leading to Serena Chowk. In addition, Suhrawardy Road in the Aabpara area will remain fully closed for both incoming and outgoing traffic.

Traffic movement will also be suspended on several other key routes including:

-From Recep Tayyip Erdogan Flyover to Jinnah Avenue
-Kulsoom Plaza Chowk to Seventh Avenue Bridge
-Fazal‑e‑Haq Road to Geo Chowk
-Haji Camp Chowk to Islamabad Chowk, which will be completely closed.

Additionally, IJP Road towards Gundam Gomada will remain closed from Faqir Api Road.

Other restrictions include the service road from NESCOM to the I‑10 Sector, and the I‑8 Double Road linking to IJP Road, both of which will be fully closed.

Meanwhile, Club Road from Rawal Dam Chowk to Kashmir Chowk and Park Road from Shahzad Town to Musharraf Chowk will remain partially closed on one side.

Officials have advised citizens to use alternative routes, allow extra travel time, and avoid non-essential movement during the day.
