Karachi residents warned of temporary water and power outages

Govt slashes cross-subsidy by Rs123bn, cuts electricity prices

WEBD ESK: K-Electric has begun annual maintenance work at the Pipri Pumping Station, leading to temporary disruptions in electricity and water supply across several areas of the city.

A spokesperson for K-Electric said that all feeders at the pumping station have been shut down for approximately 8.5 hours, during which residents can expect intermittent power outages.

The maintenance work is also expected to reduce water supply by nearly 48 million gallons, though the city will continue to receive about 602 million gallons, down from the daily average of 650 million gallons.

According to K-Electric, the affected areas include Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Malir, Defence, and Qayyumabad. In addition, the Landhi and Sherpao hydrants will remain closed during the repair work.

Residents are advised to make necessary arrangements for water and electricity usage during the maintenance period and stay updated through official K-Electric communications for any further developments.
