KP govt approves landmark Kalash marriage registration bill 2026

WEB DESK: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has passed the Kalash Marriage Registration Bill 2026, introducing a formal legal framework for the registration of marriages within the Kalash community.

The bill was presented in the provincial assembly by Law Minister Aftab Alam, who moved the motion for its approval.

Under the new legislation, a proper procedure will be established for registering Kalash marriages, ensuring legal recognition and documentation of the community’s matrimonial affairs.

The bill also underscored the state’s responsibility to protect the rights of religious minorities in accordance with constitutional principles.
