PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has reopened the Malam Jabba corruption case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker and former provincial minister Atif Khan, ordering him to appear before the Directorate of Anti-Corruption’s Special Investigation Wing.
A notice, issued by the KP Anti-Corruption Directorate, directed Atif Khan to appear on November 12 to record a statement concerning allegations of corruption in the Malam Jabba case.
The notice asked Atif Khan to appear before the Anti-Corruption Directorate so that complaints and inquiries could be finalized in the case.
Responding to the notice on X (formerly Twitter), Atif Khan expressed surprise, noting that it was his own party’s government that had summoned him.
He said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had previously closed the Malam Jabba case and suggested that reopening it was part of an attempt to damage the PTI and its founder Imran Khan.
“I will continue to speak the truth and raise my concerns on party forums,” he said, adding, “I’ve endured worse — this is nothing.”
Sources in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Directorate told HUM News English that the notice issued to Atif Khan was also linked to an inquiry involving a private housing scheme in Mardan, with further clarification expected soon.
This case also comes amid longstanding reports of internal rifts between Atif Khan and KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, with tensions reportedly affecting both party and provincial governance.
