Naqvi meets Boeing’s president to discuss aircraft deal for PIA

WEB DESK: Pakistan and the United States on Thursday discussed the best possible deal options regarding the new aircraft that the country will add to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
According to a statement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, accompanied by an Arif Habib Corporation-led delegation, met with Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson at the headquarters in Washington today.
Both sides held detailed discussions regarding the new deal and agreed on finding the best available options for the acquisition of 16 new aircraft.
During the meeting, Naqvi extended gratitude to Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson for assuring cooperation in the speedy purchase of new aircraft for PIA.
He also appreciated Boeing’s key role in the global aviation manufacturing industry.
Former Ethiopian Airlines chief emerged as PIA CEO
Tewolde Gebremariam, former Ethiopian Airlines Group chief executive, has been appointed as CEO for the Pakistan International Airlines.
Gebremariam is widely credited with transforming Ethiopian Airlines into Africa’s largest airline during his tenure, expanding its international network and strengthening Addis Ababa’s position as a major aviation hub on the continent.
Earlier, the new management of PIA launched direct flights between Lahore and Manchester, aimed at expanding the out-sourced aircrafts far off to the United Kingdom.
PK-709 was the first inaugural flight that departed on July 11 from Lahore with 325 passengers on board, following a simple ceremony at Lahore airport.
