ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the escalation in tensions and recent developments in the region, warning that a renewed conflict serves no one’s interest.

The Foreign Office called on all involved parties to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could undermine regional peace and stability.

In an official statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson emphasised that continued engagement, dialogue, and diplomacy remain the only viable paths to achieve lasting peace.

Call for restraint

The statement comes amid heightened friction in the region following a series of events that have tested local stability. The spokesperson stated that Pakistan remains ready to continue playing its role as a mediator to prevent further escalation.

The appeal follows a recent Pakistan-Qatar joint statement, which noted that Iran and the United States had agreed to reach a final agreement within a 60-day timeline. Pakistan has been working alongside Qatar to facilitate communication and keep the diplomatic process on track.

Adherence to bilateral framework

Islamabad urged all sides to uphold their respective commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The Foreign Office described the framework as an enduring foundation for mutual respect, understanding, and shared prosperity for the region and beyond.

Official sources state that maintaining the terms of the MoU is necessary to prevent a breakdown of the current ceasefire and security arrangements. Pakistan has stepped up its diplomatic engagement with regional stakeholders to ensure the implementation of the agreed terms.
