Pakistan welcomes delegates for 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women

ISLAMABAD: Delegations from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have arrived in Pakistan today to participate in the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, which will be held on July 12 and 13.

Pakistan is hosting the two-day conference, which will bring together ministers, senior government officials and representatives of international organisations from across OIC member states.

The conference will focus on issues related to the social, economic and political empowerment of women. Participants are also expected to review progress made in advancing women’s development, share best national practices and discuss a future roadmap for strengthening cooperation among OIC member states on women’s issues.

Minister of State Barrister Aqeel Malik, Saba Sadiq, Farah Naz Akbar and other senior officials welcomed the visiting delegations upon their arrival.

As host of the conference, Pakistan said it would reaffirm its commitment to promoting the rights, dignity and empowerment of women across OIC member states.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar will assume the responsibilities of chairing the ministerial conference, with Pakistan set to lead efforts to enhance cooperation among member states during its presidency.

The Government of Pakistan has welcomed all participating delegations attending the conference.
