LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators delivered a ruthless all-round performance to thrash Multan Sultans by 10 wickets in their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 encounter at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
After bowling out Multan for a paltry 89, Quetta chased down the modest target in just 6.5 overs, thanks to a blistering opening stand between captain Saud Shakeel and New Zealand’s Finn Allen.
Saud smashed 42 off 20 deliveries, including four sixes and three fours, while Allen struck an unbeaten 45 off 21 balls, hammering five sixes in the process. The duo made short work of Multan’s bowling attack, which failed to claim a single wicket.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Quetta captain Saud Shakeel’s decision paid immediate dividends as Multan’s batting line-up crumbled under pressure.
Yasir Khan departed for just 5 runs, while Usman Khan was dismissed for a duck on his third delivery.
Kamran Ghulam, who impressed in the previous match with a half-century, could only manage 3 runs this time.
Ireland’s Curtis Campher, making his PSL debut, was dismissed for 4 — all four early wickets claimed by Khurram Shahzad.
None of the middle or lower-order batters could resist the disciplined bowling attack.
Iftikhar Ahmed (6), Michael Bracewell (0), David Willey (7), Usama Mir (11), Mohammad Hasnain (2), and Ubaid Shah (1) all fell cheaply.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan stood firm with an unbeaten 44, but received little support from the other end.
Multan’s innings folded inside 19 overs, unable to even bat through the full quota of 20.
Khurram Shahzad starred with figures of 4 wickets, while Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim Jr picked up 2 wickets apiece.

Quetta fielded the same playing XI that beat Peshawar Zalmi in their previous outing, whereas Multan made three changes — bringing in Usama Mir, David Willey and Curtis Campher in place of Shai Hope, Josh Little and Aaqif Javed.
