Rain clears the air in Lahore

Following long-awaited rain, Lahore’s skies have cleared, bringing much-needed relief to its residents who have been battling smog for the past three months.

For the past few months, the Punjab capital had been engulfed with clouds of smog that worsened the air quality of the city, prompting widespread health concerns among all age groups and placing the city at the top of the world’s most polluted cities.

After enduring months of suffocating air pollution, rain in Lahore city can finally breathe a sigh of relief as it emerges from the ranks of the world’s most polluted urban centers.

The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in the city now stands at 42, marking a significant improvement.

However, there is still room for concern as one location in the city recorded an AQI exceeding 200.

In Gulberg, specifically, an AQI of 250 was registered, highlighting the need for continued efforts to address air quality issues in Lahore.

The recent rainfall may have offered temporary respite, but it’s the collective commitment to environmental stewardship that will pave the way for a truly breathable future in the City of Gardens.

The Met Office said the weather will remain partly cloudy in the upper districts of Punjab. There are chances of thundershowers with strong winds in Attock, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Narowal, Jhang and Faisalabad while fog fall is likely in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and surroundings
