ISLAMABAD: In an important piece of advice for Pakistan’s national cricket team captain, Babar Azam, former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja has suggested a significant change for the upcoming match against India.

During a conversation on his YouTube channel, Ramiz Raja urged Babar Azam to consider opening the innings himself in the match against India. He pointed out that the current opener, Fakhar Zaman, has been experiencing a series of failures, and it might be wise to give him a break in this crucial game. Instead, Ramiz Raja proposed that Babar Azam should partner with Imam-ul-Haq to provide Pakistan with a strong start.

Ramiz Raja explained that while Fakhar Zaman is an unconventional and talented batsman, when a player is out of form, it’s essential to ease the pressure on them so they can regain their form more comfortably.

He also noted that Fakhar Zaman struggled in recent matches against Afghanistan, failing to perform up to his potential, even his body language seemed different.

Ramiz Raja stressed the importance of having a well-performing opener in the Pakistan team for the Asia Cup match against India. He cautioned that if Imam-ul-Haq also faces early dismissal, it could increase the pressure on the middle-order batsmen.

In conclusion, Ramiz Raja emphasized the need for a strong opening partnership and suggested that Babar Azam, given his capabilities, should take on this crucial role himself in the match against India.
