Senate panel on food security to inquire imported wheat scandal

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Food Security on Tuesday decided to launch an inquiry into a scandal involving imported wheat.
The committee has formed a sub-committee headed by Senator Aimal Wali Khan to probe the matter. The inquiry will be launched after the TORs will be thrashed out for the sub-committee.

Meanwhile, the food secretary and the PASSCO management director opposed the proposal to form a sub-committee to probe the matter. The PASSCO chief said that inquiry committees already exist to probe such scandals.
To this, the committee chairman said, “We cannot solely rely on those committees and the wheat scandal is of great concern, therefore, the sub-committee will conduct an inquiry into the matter.
