Senior PPP leader, former federal minister Malik Mukhtar Awan, passes away

WEB DESK: Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former federal minister Malik Mukhtar Awan passed away on Tuesday after a prolonged illness, party sources confirmed.

A close associate of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Malik Mukhtar Awan was regarded as one of the party’s founding leaders and remained a prominent political figure in Multan for decades.

His funeral prayers will be offered on Wednesday at 9 am at Abdali Mosque in Multan. He will be laid to rest following the prayers.

The news of his demise sparked grief across political and social circles, with leaders from across the country paying tribute to his longstanding political career and public service.

The Pakistan Peoples Party’s central and provincial leadership, along with leaders from other political parties, expressed deep sorrow over his passing. They offered condolences to the bereaved family and hailed his contributions to the party and national politics.
