ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Friday sent the accused in the TikToker Samiya Hijab case to Adiala jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
The man, identified as Hassan Zahid, is accused of threatening and attempting to abduct the TikToker.
Shalimar police produced the accused before Judicial Magistrate Yasin Mehmood Chaudhry after the expiry of his physical remand.
The police sought a further five-day extension in the physical remand, however, the judge rejected the police request and sent the accused to jail on judicial remand.
On September 1, a case had been registered at Shalimar police station against the accused for harassing the TikToker and issuing death threats. He was arrested on the same day by the police.
In the FIR, the complainant alleged that the accused had been following her for several days and repeatedly tried to pressure her by sending gifts.
TikToker Samia Hijab further told police that on August 31, at around 6:30 pm, the accused attempted to forcibly take her along from outside her house and openly threatened to kill her in revenge.
The victim also uploaded a video regarding the incident on her social media account, which she later submitted to the police along with CCTV footage.
Earlier Samiya Hijab, breaking her silence on the social media chatter, had admitted to having a ‘relationship’ with Hassan Zahid.
Samiya revealed that the man behind the attempted abduction was none other than her former fiancé.
Her statement came after videos of her receiving gifts and meeting Hassan surfaced online, with users accusing her of seeking attention.
In a video statement on social media, Samiya admitted that the arrested man, Hassan Zahid, was her fiancé, but she ended the engagement after learning the truth about him.
In April this year, TikToker Samiya Hijab had denied that the alleged obscene videos circulating online were her’s, claiming that the leaked videos were fake and leaked by her former boyfriend.
Following the viral spread of her alleged leaked videos, Samiya Hijab trended on platforms like Google and social media.
