Travel alert lifted: Murree roads officially cleared of snow

WEB DESK: All roads in Murree have been cleared of snow and reopened for traffic, announced the Director-General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The situation in the popular hill station has returned to normal, confirmed Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia, ensuring residents and tourists of restored access.

The region has experienced significant snowfall, with a cumulative total of approximately 20 inches recorded by the PDMA. A notable portion of this, about 5.5 inches, fell during the previous night. However, authorities are preparing for more winter weather. Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabil Javed warned that further snowfall is expected in Murree and the Galiyat region on January 26 and 27.

Officials are urging both tourists and local residents to cooperate with the administration for a smooth response to the ongoing weather conditions. The call for cooperation aims to ensure public safety and the continued efficiency of relief and management efforts as the new winter system approaches.
