Violent incidents rock Karachi: shootings and alleged police encounters

KARACHI: Karachi faced a series of violent incidents on Monday, including shootings and several alleged police encounters across the city of 17.6 million.

In sector 31-C1 of Korangi, a neighbourhood in Karachi, an alleged police encounter resulted in the arrest of one person.

According to the police, while one accused was arrested, his accomplice managed to flee. The accused is involved in various incidents of street crime.

Another alleged police encounter near a highway led to the arrest of two suspects in injured condition. According to the police, weapons were recovered from the accused. The suspects were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment sustained during the encounter.

Near Jahangir Road in Jamshed Quarters, yet another alleged police encounter resulted in the death of a suspect associated with criminal gangs. As per police reports, the deceased had a history of criminal activities, including the murder of a constable in 2018.

Meanwhile, an alleged police encounter took place in the village of Maripur, located near Karachi. According to the police, a suspect was arrested. He was taken to the hospital due to injuries sustained during the confrontation.

Meanwhile, near the the local post office in Liaquatabad, a protest over electricity outage turned violent as protesters threw stones at vehicles. Law enforcement detained several protesters and dispersed the crowd using batons.

In Allahwala Town, a young man was fatally shot while returning from the gym. Police are investigating whether the incident was a robbery or driven by enmity.
