Fans asking one question, what time does Iceman drop, finally got their answer after Drake turned Toronto’s skyline into a spectacle and released Iceman at midnight, alongside surprise albums Maid of Honour and Habibti.
The Canadian rapper transformed the city’s iconic CN Tower into an icy-blue display on Thursday night during a livestream for Iceman Episode 4, using the dramatic stunt to mark the arrival of the new music.
Drake finally answers ‘Iceman’ release question
Drake confirmed during the livestream that Iceman would arrive at midnight, with the album now available alongside surprise companion projects Maid of Honour and Habibti. The reveal ended hours of online speculation as fans waited for confirmation on when the new music would land.
The large-scale stunt saw the CN Tower illuminated in icy blue from top to bottom using 75 projectors, while thousands gathered downtown and many more tuned in online to watch the spectacle unfold. According to Drake’s team, the production generated more than 2.5 million lumens of light and featured over 138 million pixels synchronised through media servers connected via air fibre.
At the start of the livestream, an “Iceman” truck was seen travelling along the Don Valley Parkway before arriving at the tower, setting the stage for the reveal. Fans gathered near the landmark described the atmosphere as electric, with one attendee saying moments like these captured the spirit of the city.
Described by Drake’s team as a “visual album”, Iceman is said to offer a theatrical interpretation of the rapper’s thoughts and experiences over the past two years.
The livestream also featured appearances from Drake’s son Adonis and scenes tied to major Toronto landmarks. Footage showed the rapper inside city hall, including the council chamber and mayor’s office, while another moment referenced the large explosion at Downsview Park that drew attention last month.
The event ended with a 10-minute fireworks display at Harbourfront Centre, closing out Drake’s latest promotional campaign after a giant ice sculpture linked to the rollout drew crowds in downtown Toronto earlier this year.
