Who can apply for Punjab School Teaching Interns’ positions?

LAHORE: The Punjab Education Department has announced a policy to recruit “School Teaching Interns (STIs).”
Under the policy, STIs will be recruited for nine months each year, and they will not receive stipends during the summer vacations’ holidays.
Under the new policy, a total of 12,500 STIs will be hired across Punjab. However, STIs will not be assigned to evening schools or administrative duties.
The teaching interns will receive a monthly stipend ranging from Rs38,000 to Rs45,000. According to the policy, these interns will be hired on a temporary basis.

Candidates must be residents of their respective districts to be eligible.
STI Eligibility Criteria
Under the policy, candidates must possess both a master’s degree and a professional teaching qualification.
For primary school positions, candidates require at least a bachelor’s degree along with a professional teaching qualification. STIs will not be eligible for transfers to other schools or permanent positions. Interns will receive a certificate upon completion of their internship.
The hiring process will be conducted with the approval of deputy DEOs, AEOs, school heads, and school councils.
STI Monthly Stipend
Interns in primary schools will receive a monthly stipend of Rs38,000, those in middle schools Rs40,000, and those in high and higher secondary schools Rs45,000.
The merit list for hiring will be displayed at the offices of deputy DEOs, on an online portal, and on school notice boards. A special portal will be set up for candidates to apply within their respective districts.
Earlier, the Punjab government hired College Teaching Interns (CTIs) in public colleges. A total of 7,354 teaching interns were hired across Punjab government colleges under the Higher Education Internship Programme.
