Ellen DeGeneres reportedly moves to the UK following Trump’s reelection

WEB DESK: Famous television host, Ellen DeGeneres is reportedly moving to the United Kingdom (UK) along with her long-time partner, Portia de Rossi, following the election of conservative, right-wing leaning Donald Trump as United States (US) president.

A US native, Ellen and her partner reportedly settled in the postcard-worthy Cotswolds region, located 117 kilometres west of London.

People close to the couple hint their decision to migrate was fueled by Donald Trump’s victory and fear of backlash as part of the LGBTQIA community.

As per reports, the former comedian and her partner are in the process of selling California home, hinting at long-term moving plans.

According to the TMZ, the couple purchased their current residence in the UK prior to the US election on November 6.

Ellen DeGeneres moving quietly and quickly took many by surprise, though people close to the former comedian state they expected it.

The US native has long been a supporter of US Vice President, Kamala Harris. The left-leaning Democratic Party candidate lost the election to Trump by a wide margin, shocking many.

In several social media posts, Ellen had expressed admiration for Harris. “There’s nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I cant wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president”, she stated in one of her posts.

The former television host had repeatedly urged her followers to participate in the voting process, putting a huge emphasis on civic participation.

However, she is not the only celebrity to flee the United States before the president elect even took office.

Reality media celebrity, Eva Longoria, disclosed that she and her family relocated to Mexico and Spain. She described the current political atmosphere in the US as “dystopian”.

The actress also stated she was worried about the relaxed, left-leaning California socially changing.

Even Hollywood veteran Richard Gere announced plans to move his family to Spain. On a late-night talk show, the legendary actor shared that his decision to relocate was a mutual agreement with his spouse.

 While he reassured his fans that he would return to the US, the tone of finality was unmistakable.
