Jamie Foxx opens up about mysterious illness


WEB DESK: Jamie Foxx finally opened up about his mysterious illness, recounting the event in a June 2024 video.

The “Django Unchained” actor faced a serious health crisis in April last year that led to his hospitalisation. The news was initially reported by his daughter on social media platform Instagram.

Foxx described how the illness became with a severe headache that caused him to lose consciousness for 20 days after taking an Advil. Doctors identified issues related to his head, although Foxx did not disclose specifics.

Since his hospitalisation, Foxx has resumed public appearances, attending events such as the African American Film Critics Association’s Special Achievement Awards luncheon and the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema and Television.

While he occasionally references his health scare during these appearances, he avoids sharing detailed medical information.

Foxx has expressed gratitude for the support he received from fans and medical professionals during his recovery. In August last year, he updated his followers on Instagram. Jamie Foxx stated that his health was in recovery and thanked everyone for their well-wishes.

Jamie Foxx began his career in entertainment in 1989, and has gone on to a make a name for himself in acting, singing and comedy. His breakthrough came with portrayal of Ray Charles in the 2004 biographical film “Ray”. The film earned him huge critical acclaim along with numerous awards. He won an Academy Award (Oscars), a BAFTA, and a Golden Globe award for “best actor”.

As a comedian, Foxx first gained prominence as a featured player “In Living Colour” where he showcased his comedic prowess until the show concluded in 1994. Following this success, he starred in and produced his own sitcom, “The Jamie Foxx Show,” from 1996 to 2001.

Foxx began his singing career in 2002s as an “R&B” singer. He released chart-topping tracks that peaked at number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100: “Slow Jamz” and “Gold Digger”.

His first album titled “Unpredictable” was released in 2005. Unpredictable would go on to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Much like acting, he would go on to win the highest award in the music industry: a Grammy Award for his song “Blame It.”

Jamie Foxx published his autobiography “Act Like You Got Some Sense” in 2021.
