Mahesh Bhatt Lal Haveli Sheikh Rasheed film

RAWALPINDI: Sheikh Rasheed, the leader of the Awami Muslim League and former Federal Minister, has disclosed that renowned Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt sought permission twice to film at his residence, Lal Haveli, but was refused both times.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Sheikh Rasheed is seen speaking to the media. He revealed that Mahesh Bhatt had travelled from India on two separate occasions to request permission to shoot a film at Lal Haveli. However, both requests were turned down.

Sheikh Rasheed explained that Bhatt was interested in making a film based on the story of Dhanraj, which was to be shot entirely at Lal Haveli.

Despite the director’s interest, Sheikh Rasheed declined the request. He also noted that any documentaries made about Lal Haveli to date have been produced independently by their creators.

Furthermore, Sheikh Rasheed refuted circulating claims about the size of Lal Haveli, which is often said to span 19 kanals.

He clarified that the property is only about 3 marlas in size and stated that he has already designated it in his will to be allocated for academic institutions after his death.
