Reema Khan accused of fraud

LAHORE: Renowned Pakistani actress Reema Khan has been accused of serious fraud by a man named Shahid Rafiq, who had invested millions of rupees in her movie.

In a brief interview outside the Lahore Press Club for a YouTube channel, Shahid Rafiq claimed that he invested Rs. 21 million in Reema Khan’s 2009 film Love Mein Ghum but has not received any profit to date.

Shahid Rafiq stated that he returned to Lahore from Qatar in 2009 to invest in property in the Defence area. During this time, he met Reema Khan’s sister, Maira Khan, who was a real estate agent.

According to Shahid Rafiq, Maira Khan suggested investing in Reema’s film instead of purchasing property, assuring him of significant returns within five to six months.

Following a meeting with Reema, Shahid transferred the money but later faced demands for additional funds.

Shahid Rafiq further revealed that he was invited to Malaysia during the film’s shooting, where he stayed for 20 to 25 days with the main cast. Despite the film being completed, neither did he receive any profits nor was his money returned. Instead, he was asked for more funds.

He added that Reema Khan made an agreement with him, of which he claims to have all the evidence, including bank statements.

However, Reema filed a Rs. 200 million defamation case against him, accusing him of fraud.

According to Shahid Rafiq, the civil court ruled in his favor, declaring that Reema Khan committed a fraud worth Rs. 21 million.

Reema Khan has yet to respond on the matter.
