The official teaser trailer for season 3 of Netflix’s Squid Game was released on Tuesday, showing snippets of what fans can expect in the highly anticipated finale.
The trailer opens showing the aftermath of the contestant’s assault on the operators of the games, with the masked men bringing back a casket normally filled with the dead. However, this time, its Seong Gi-hun who is found inside, still alive.
The Game
The trailer then briefly shows different aspects of the latest game contestants will play. Players are shown taking either red or blue balls out of a machine reminiscent of a gumball dispenser. They can then be seen wearing aprons with their numbers plastered front and centre.
Gi-hun is seen in what seems to be a maze-like structure at one point with his apron on, walking past a body propped up next to a wall covered in blood. Hyun-Ju can be seen in another brief moment of the trailer preparing to fight someone off screen.
Based on these few seconds, the primary game this season may face characters off in a more direct fashion than the games in previous iterations. However, like with each game in the show, there is always a childlike twist. This time, it maybe something simpler and more universal than previous seasons, such as a form of team tag or capture the flag.
Another twist may be the boxes that the masked men can be seen handing out to the contestants, which could possibly contain weapons.

The Characters
In regards to Gi-hun, the guilt he feels for leading his companions, including long-time friend Jung Bae, to their deaths in his failed assault can be seen weighing heavy. Throughout, Gi-hun looks dejected, especially in one frame showing him hand cuffed to one of the beds in the main hall.
Dae-ho is another character who was left in an interesting spot at the end of season 2. The supposed former marine abandoned his fellow contestants during the assault when he was sent back to retrieve more ammo. Whether he froze because of PTSD or simply fear is yet to be seen. He is only shown for a split second in the trailer with a rather infuriated look on his face.
The mother son duo of Geum-ja and Yong-sik is shown for a brief moment as well, after they receive their respective coloured balls, which puts them on separate teams.

Jun-ho seems to have finally found where the games are being held, with him being found on the outskirts of an island sporting scuba gear. He spent the entirety of season 2 searching for the island with a group of ex-soldiers he made alongside Gi-hun, all while unknowingly housing a traitor in the fisherman, Captain Park.
The VIPs were notably missing from season 2, but they’re shown to be back in season 3. The group of the uber-rich, who finance and watch the games, can be seen dining and watching on. Hwang In-ho is also seen briefly in his front man attire. He managed to keep his identity secret while pulling the strings from within the game last season. His interactions with Gi-hun were some of the best moments of season 2, but its still unclear whether he will return to the games as a player.

The Baby
The biggest twist of the trailer was the last few seconds, when a baby can be heard crying. Kim Jun-hee is shown to be pregnant in season 2, and is thus ostracised by most players who see her as a liability. Jun-hee eventually teams up with Gi-hun and the rest of his group.

Her giving birth will make the already pressing situation even tougher for those attempting to stop the games.
