Woman sues restaurant after slipping on slice of meat

BOSTON: A woman has taken a legal action against a restaurant after slipping on a slice of meat.
According to the media reports, Alice Cohen, 67, has initiated legal action against Eataly, the Italian food emporium in Boston, blaming her fractured left ankle on a piece of prosciutto, an uncooked, unsmoked ham.
The reports said that Cohen’s lawsuit, filed in Suffolk Superior Court on August 11, asserted that on October 7 during a visit, she slipped on a prosciutto slice while making her way to an area offering food samples to customers.

The incident resulted in physical injuries, medical expenses exceeding $7,500, and a loss of enjoyment of life, according to the court documents.
Meanwhile, Cohen, accompanied by her husband Ronald from Gilford, New Hampshire, was pursuing a jury trial seeking damages of at least $50,000. The lawsuit alleged that Eataly was negligent in maintaining the safety of its premises, not taking proper measures to clean the floor.
Furthermore, the lawsuit also alleged that Eataly was responsible for maintain a safe environment for the customers and it also mentioned a claim for loss of consortium.
Eataly, a popular restaurant known for its gourmet Italian offerings and with locations both in the US and overseas, has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
