ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police has issued a traffic diversion plan for the central procession of 12th Rabiul-Awwal on Saturday for the convenience of the commuters and the public.

According to the police spokesperson, the procession will start from Jamia Masjid Al-Raza in G-7 and conclude at Darbar Sakhi Mahmood.

More than 400 officers and personnel will be on duty, while diversions have been placed at various locations to facilitate citizens.

Traffic from Sitara Market to Iqbal Hall will be diverted, and commuters are advised to use Post Office, Fire Brigade Road, and Faisal Avenue as alternatives. From Iqbal Hall to Razia Sharif Plaza via Service Road G-7/3, traffic will also be diverted, with Seventh Avenue to be used as an alternative route.

On Fazal Haq Road, traffic from China Chowk to Kulsoom Plaza will be diverted, and citizens are advised to use Jinnah Avenue instead. From Shuhada Chowk to GPO Chowk and Aabpara Chowk, traffic diversions will also be in place, with commuters advised to use GPO Chowk and Shaheed Millat Road, according to the spokesperson.

From Aabpara Chowk to Seventh Avenue Chowk via Suhrawardy Road, traffic will remain closed. Vehicles coming from Zero Point and Rawalpindi are advised to use Seventh Avenue, Faisal Avenue, and Srinagar Highway.

From Chand Tara Chowk to Dhokri Chowk, traffic on Srinagar Highway will also be diverted. Traffic coming from Bhara Kahu will be diverted to Srinagar Highway or via Rawal Dam Chowk to Faisal Avenue, while vehicles coming from Motorway towards Bhara Kahu and Murree will be diverted from Zero Point to Faizabad and Murree Road.

Chief Traffic Officer said that parking will not be allowed on main highways during the procession. Citizens have been advised to keep at least 20 minutes of additional travel time to avoid inconvenience.
