Al-Qaeda leader arrested

LAHORE: Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) DIG Usman Gondal said that the key leader of the banned organization Al-Qaeda has been arrested in a joint operation of CTD and secret agencies from Gujrat.

The high-profile terrorist Amin Muhammad, hailing from Afghanistan, was living in Pakistan by creating fake documents. He played an important role in the re-organization of the banned terror outfit Al-Qaeda.

“The arrest of Dr. Aminul Haq is very important in the incidents of terrorism in Pakistan. The ID of the arrested terrorist is 002. The name of Dr. Aminul Haq is also included as a Global Terrorist,” Usman Gondal said.

“After the withdrawal of NATO forces, Dr. Amin-ul-Haq visited Afghanistan. In April 2024, Dr. Aminul Haq was present in Afghanistan,” DIG of CTD told media persons.

Associated with Bin Laden since 1996, the CTD noted that Haq was among the top fighters of the extremist group and that he was involved in several terrorist activities.

Haq, responsible for coordinating security for the deceased Al-Qaeda chief, has also been designated as a terrorist by the United Nations.
