Deadline for submission of Hajj applications to be extended

Hajj 2025

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs is extending the last date for submission of Hajj applications for the third time under the government scheme as it has failed to meet its allocated quota.

Saudi Arabia has allotted Pakistan a total quota of 179,210 pilgrims for Hajj 2025, equally divided between the government and private schemes (89,605 slots each). The government initially set December 3 as the deadline for applications, under its scheme, but later extended it to December 10 and then December 17.

As 5000 slots remain vacant under the government scheme, the ministry has decided to continue accepting applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

Speaking of Hum News morning show “Subah Sai Agay” , Religious of Ministry Affairs spokesman Omar Butt confirming another extension in the deadline for receiving Hajj applications said, “We are still short of the 5,000 target and aim to accommodate more applicants wishing to perform Hajj.”

When asked what could be the reason behind that the government is unable to reach the desired quota Butt cited financial constraints as a key reason, adding that people from remote areas also face challenges in applying. He noted that similar issues are being faced by other countries like India and Bangladesh, which are also unable to fulfill their quotas.

Regarding private tour operators’ rift with the government, he said everyone has to follow the guidelines provided by the Saudi government.
