WEB DESK: Under the auspices of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a significant gathering was convened to address key educational initiatives in the province.

The session, held under the Chief Minister’s leadership, focused on pivotal matters concerning the enhancement of educational opportunities, particularly for the youth.

Dr. Farooq Naveed, Secretary of Higher Education, provided a comprehensive briefing on the Youth Scholarship Programme, shedding light on its intricacies and potential impact.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed a keen interest in obtaining a detailed report on the status of government universities across Punjab, underlining the administration’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and accessibility.

Integral to the discussions were briefings on the Merit Programme, Special Quota, and the Chief Minister’s P.H.D. Programme, where foundational approvals were granted.

Notably, plans were unveiled to allocate 500 scholarships for P.H.D. studies across 20 disciplines, a move aimed at promoting advanced research and development within the province.

During the briefing, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasised the importance of facilitating educational pursuits, stating, “If a disadvantaged child aspires to pursue higher studies abroad, why should they not be supported?”

The meeting witnessed the participation of officials including Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Provincial Advisor Parvez Rashid, Provincial Minister for Information Azam Bukhari, MPA Saniha Aashiq, Noshin Adnan, Chief Secretary, Chairman of Planning & Development, Treasury Secretary, Chairman of Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), Chairman of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), Chairman of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF), Dr. Amjad Saqib, and other dignitaries, signifying a collective commitment towards advancing educational opportunities and fostering intellectual growth across Punjab.
