One intriguing aspect of the operation was the discovery of business cards in possession of the arrested individuals. It was further revealed that the accused had been making threatening phone calls to extort money, with even former senators and parliamentarians having received extortion demands from them.

During his briefing, DIG Shahid shared that apart from the two detained individuals, a total of 71 others associated with them have also been identified. Furthermore, it was uncovered that these terrorists had established ten WhatsApp groups to facilitate their extortion activities.

Despite difficulties in obtaining Call Data Records (CDRs) from Afghanistan, the CTD is diligently pursuing leads in this case, DIG Shahid said.
