FBR extends tax return filing deadline by one month

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2023.
In view of the demand of trade bodies and various tax bar associations, it has been decided that the date of filing of income tax return for Tax Year 2023 is extended to *31st October, 2023*. However, no further extension for filing of said return shall be granted.

According to notification released on Saturday night, the deadline has been extended to October 31.
As per the notification, the decision was made in response to the persistent demands from trade bodies and various tax bar associations.
Meanwhile, no further extensions for filing these returns will be granted beyond the newly established deadline. It is pertinent to note that initial filing deadline for income tax returns was September 30.
Earlier, FBR revealed that a staggering 1.7 million individuals have already submitted their tax returns. Furthermore, the officials expressed their anticipation that the number would surge beyond the two million mark by the end of September 30.
