GILGIT: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cybercrime Circle in Gilgit on Tuesday apprehended two suspects who were allegedly involved in harassing and blackmailing women threatening them to viral their videos on social media if they did not accomplish their demands.

The accused, identified as Shafqatullah, a resident of Chilas and a police official, and Sadiq Ahmed, a resident of Bunji and an employee of the Special Communications Organization (SCO), have been taken into custody.

The suspects were allegedly targeting university and college students, recording videos, and later using them for blackmail. They had been blackmailing a woman and her family for over a month.

The FIA Cyber Crime Circle has recovered illicit pictures and videos from the cellphones of the suspects. The agency stated that further investigations are under way to uncover the extent of the racket and any other individuals involved.
