General Bajwa had threatened to impose martial law

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior leader and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday claimed that former army chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa had threatened to impose martial law in Pakistan.

Talking to Geo News, Asif discussed about Bajwa’s intentions, stating that the former army chief not only threatened to impose martial law in a meeting with him but also in front of other people.

When asked should Gen Bajwa not be held accountable for this and tried, Asif said “who can dare proceed this trial.”

In 2023, Pakistan People’s Party Co-chairperson and President Asif Ali Zardari, who was in opposition in the parliament, had told a private TV channel that “Gen Bajwa had threatened that he would impose martial law, if we did not follow his instructions.”
