German tourist given Rs 500,000 compensation by Punjab govt

LAHORE: The Punjab government, under the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has provided Rs 500,000 in compensation to German tourist Florian Berg, who was recently robbed in Lahore.

During a meeting with Berg, Punjab Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal reassured him that all visitors to Pakistan are treated with the utmost respect and hospitality. “We are taking steps to ensure the safety and security of our guests,” Mengal said.
Mengal also mentioned that the police are employing advanced technology to track down the robbers and expressed confidence that they would soon be caught.
Florian Berg, meanwhile, praised the kindness and hospitality of the Pakistani people. “The warmth of the people matches the beauty of the country’s landscapes,” he said.

He commended the Punjab government for their support and expressed his intention to visit Pakistan again, describing it as his favourite country.
The robbery took place a few days ago while Berg was camping on a street in Lahore.
