diesel and petrol

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced revised consumer prices for petroleum products, citing recent fluctuations in the international oil market.

According to a notification issued by the Finance Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs1 per litre, while high-speed diesel has seen a significant hike of Rs7 per litre.

After the increase, the petrol per litre price has reached to Rs257.13 while the high-speed diesel will now be sold at Rs267.97.

The new prices will take effect from February 1, 2025.

The notification mentioned that Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) reviewed and adjusted consumer prices for petroleum products in view of recent fluctuations in the international oil market.

The new rates will remain in effect for the next fortnight.

Earlier, HUM News English had predicted that this time, prices will not only be increased for petrol but also for high-speed diesel and kerosene oil. This increase was anticipated due to the rise in international oil prices.

In the first fortnightly review of 2025, the federal government increased the ex-depot price of petrol by Rs3.47, bringing the rate to Rs256.13 per litre.

According to a notification from the Finance Division, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) was raised by Rs2.61, setting it at Rs260.95 per litre. These prices have been in effect since January 16, 2025.

Locate legal petrol stations thru OGRA app

The OGRA, in partnership with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), launched a mobile application called ‘Raahguzar’ on January 22.

This app leverages Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to help users locate legal petrol stations and fuel outlets throughout the country, marking a significant advancement in the digitisation of Pakistan’s oil supply chain.

The ‘Raahguzar’ app provides a convenient platform for consumers, local governments, and law enforcement agencies to identify illegal outlets, commonly referred to as “dabba stations.” Furthermore, users can file complaints regarding illegal outlets, price gouging, or quality issues, thereby promoting transparency and empowering various stakeholders.
